Services for James L. “Pappy” Jarvis, 85, of Eastlake, will be at 10 AM on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

Mr. Jarvis passed away Friday, April 3, 2015 at his home, after a brief illness.

Born January 17, 1930 in New Boston, he has lived in Eastlake for more than 60 years in a home he built.

He was a United States Navy veteran, serving two tours of duty, followed by one tour of duty in the United States Army. He was also a member of The American Legion Palmer-Roberts Post 214 in Willoughby.

Mr. Jarvis was employed as a millwright at the former Chase Brass and Copper Company in Euclid, retiring in 1984. He also later worked for Curtis Industries in Eastlake.

Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Anita “Tick” (Brinager) Jarvis; son, David Wayne (Jane) Jarvis of Wise, VA and daughter, Cheryl Elizabeth (Scott) Jarvis-Warner of Eastlake; grandchildren, Ginger Jarvis, James “Jay” Francis, Timmy Jarvis, Dennis Jarvis, Shannon Jarvis, Tia Jarvis, Sonya Higgins, Brian Warner, Amanda Ford and Adam Warner; great grandchildren, Nina Miller, Ashley Jarvis, Krista Jarvis, Savannah, Briana and Sarah Blevins, Matthew and Nickolas Jarvis, Logan Jarvis, Sevan and Braylon Ford and Kaylan Warner. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and their families, and his best friend and co-worker, George Schromm.

He was preceded in death by his son, James L. Jarvis, Jr.; his parents, Claude and Clarissa (Thompson) Jarvis; his sister, Marie Howerton and brother, Fred Jarvis.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the funeral home. Mr. Drew Davis will officiate at the service. Final resting place will be in South Kirtland Cemetery, Kirtland.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to Hospice of the Western Reserve, Inc., 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44110-2602.
