Memorial services for John Henry Craig, 95, of Mentor, will be at 2 PM on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Mentor Plains United Methodist Church, 7271 Lakeshore Boulevard, Mentor.

Mr. Craig passed away Friday, March 15, 2013 at Hospice House in Cleveland.

Born November 16, 1917 in Milford, NH, he has lived in Mentor for more than 55 years.

He was a member of Mentor Plains United Methodist Church. He has been honored with an induction into the State of Ohio Senior Hall of Fame, the Lake County Senior Hall of Fame and the Lake County Council on Aging Hall of Fame. He also volunteered with Meals-on-Wheels in Lake County for 33 years, preparing and delivering meals.

Mr. Craig was employed as a foreman at Eaton Manufacturing Corporation in Cleveland and Roxboro, NC. He retired in 1981 after 42 years of service.

Survivors are his children, David (Vicki) Craig of Mentor, Dan (Samantha) Craig of Roxboro, NC and Carol (Roy) Cox of Trinity, FL; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and brother, Joe (Marlene) Mayer of Euclid.

His wife of 52 years, Blanche D. Craig, passed away November 4, 1994. His natural parents, Heikki and Saima (Koskinen) Ylitalo and “parents” Dr. Paul O. and Josephine Mayer and sisters, Berda Treyz and Judy Funk are also deceased.

Private family burial will be in Whitehaven Memorial Park, Mayfield Village.
