Services for Lena Elizabeth (Childs) Rodgers, 101, of Kirtland, will be at 11 AM on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.<br><br>Mrs. Rodgers passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 in Willoughby.<br><br>Born July 14, 1912 in Orwell, the eldest of five children born to the late Ray S. and Mabel A. (LaMoreaux) Childs. She has lived in Kirtland for the past 60 years. <br><br>She was a graduate of Orwell High School, Class of 1930 and the former Wilcox Business School in Cleveland, Class of 1932. She was also a longtime member of Old South (Congregational) Church in Kirtland and served as a Campfire Girls leader for many years. <br><br>Mrs. Rodgers was employed at the former Western Reserve Convalescent Home (now Golden Living Center – Western Reserve) in Kirtland, as the activities director and also volunteered there. She retired at age 89, after 33 years of service. <br><br>She is survived by her daughters, Audrey L. (Clement) Naples of Orwell, Jacqueline (Thomas) Booth of Kirtland and Sharon L. (William) Breaux of Mentor; step-son, David L. (Nancy) Rodgers of North Bloomfield; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and her brother, Ray E. (Nancy) Childs of Orwell. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families. <br><br>She was preceded in death by her husband, William Fred Rodgers in 1962. Her parents, Ray and Mabel Childs, brothers, Donald H. and Kenneth E. Childs, who both served in World War II and her sister, Dorothy L. (Childs) Burkholder are also deceased. <br><br>The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, July 31, and from 10-11 AM on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the funeral home. The Rev. Robert A. Gaston will officiate at the service. Final resting place will be in Windsor Twp. Cemetery following the service. <br><br>
