Services for Melvin Simcheck, 78, of Willoughby, will be at 8 PM on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. The Rev. Lynn Thompson Bryant of The First Presbyterian Church of Willoughby will officiate at the service.

The family will receive friends from 2-4, 6-8 PM on Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Mr. Simcheck passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby.

Born September 22, 1935 in Clarksville, PA, he has lived in Lake County for the past 51 years.

He was a United States Marine Corps veteran, serving as F. Lee Bailey’s personal court reporter. He also enjoyed bowling.

Mr. Simcheck was the founder/owner of JayDee Enterprises, Inc. in Willoughby, a full-line belting distributor.

Survivors are his children, Kimberly Simcheck of Willoughby, Shelly (Herbert) Gregory of New Albany, Danielle (John) Moore of South Euclid and Melvin J. Simcheck of Mentor and grandchildren, Joseph R. Homrocky, Ashley (Brandon) Bauer, Mila Elizabeth Moore and Edward N. Moore. He also leaves his fiancée, Marie Francis of Willoughby and her children, Russ (Mary Ann) Francis and Michelle Francis; grandsons, Matthew and Ben Francis and great-grandchildren, Luke, Paige, Hope and Faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Simcheck and his brothers, Ken and Joe Simcheck.
