Memorial services for Phyllis M. (Hall) Williams, 86, formerly of Concord Twp., will be at 2 PM Sat., July 28, 2012 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby, where friends may call from 1-2 PM. Mrs. Williams passed away peacefully Sun., July 22, 2012 at Emeritus of Willoughby. Born June 10, 1926 in Brookville, PA she has lived in Lake County for more than 60 years. She was a member of the Mentor Teachers Association and was a Martha Holden Jennings Foundation Scholar. She was an avid tennis player and enjoyed sailing and traveling with her grandson. Mrs. Williams taught at the former Willoughby Union High School for several years, and then became a reporter at the News-Herald. She returned to her teaching career as an English teacher at Mentor Shore Junior High School and Mentor High School. She is survived by her son, Todd (Vicky) Williams of Kirtland; grandson, Clifton H. Williams; granddaughters, Maegan (Greg) Bratton and Gretchen Stroud and three great granddaughters. Her husband, Clifton B. Williams passed away in 1987. Her parents, George and Pearl Hall and her siblings are also deceased. Private interment will be in Mentor Cemetery. The family encourages contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 74194; Cleveland, OH 44194-4924.
