Robert E. Hollister Obituary

Services for Robert Edward (Bob) Hollister, 76, of Madison Township, will be at 10 AM on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. Father Andrew Clements of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church will officiate at the service.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM on Friday, December 18, 2020 at the funeral home.

Current pandemic guidelines, including social distancing, occupancy limits and the wearing of masks will be followed while visiting the funeral home.

Born May 29, 1944 to Carl Victor Hollister and Marjorie Elizabeth (Jennison) Hollister, who both preceded him in death, Bob fell asleep in the Lord on December 9, 2020.

An avid sportsman, Bob played adult softball in the Wickliffe league for many years. He encouraged his three sons to participate in sports to learn teamwork, sportsmanship and competition. He was a coach, a mentor, and a friend to the youth in Madison. Bob was also strong in his faith and led by example for his three boys.

He was Church council Vice President at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Concord Township. Bob was one of the original founders of the parish and helped build the church in Concord Township, literally laying brick by brick and nail to stud.

Bob graduated from Shaw High School in East Cleveland, in 1963. He studied engineering for two years at the former Fenn College, now Cleveland State University. He began his career as a mechanical engineer with the Bailey Meter Company. From there he finished his engineering career with Johnson Controls in Chicago.

Robert married the love of his life, Demetria G. (Space) Hollister and they were together for 54 years. They were blessed with three sons, Carl R. (Cynthia D.), George J. (Kimberly) and Christopher J. (Melissa) Hollister.
Together they were adored by their six grandchildren, Kaleigh, Alexsa, Alexandra, Robert, Cole and Maxum.

In lieu of flowers we ask you to keep Robert's family in your thoughts and prayers.
