Services for Robert E. Parsons, 92, of Mentor, will be at 11 AM on Friday, July 24, 2015 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. The Rev. Robert D. Schuler of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate at the service. <br><br>The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM on Friday, prior to the service, at the funeral home. <br><br>Mr. Parsons passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby.<br><br>Born March 22, 1923 in Cleveland, he has lived in Mentor for the past 65 years. <br><br>He was a World War II United States Army Air Force veteran.<br><br>Mr. Parsons was employed as a machinist and draftsman for many years, and then became a teacher in the Willoughby-Eastlake School system where he taught at the Willoughby Tech Center. He retired in 1983 after 19 years of service. <br><br>Mr. Parsons lived an active life and used to fly his own airplane out of a small airfield on Mentor Avenue. He and his son, David, also toured the country on their motorcycles. <br><br>Survivors are his wife of 68 years, Nancy J. (Gehri) Parsons; sons, David (Rachel) Parsons of Painesville and Thomas (Laurel) Parsons of Ennis, TX; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.<br><br>He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward W. and Rose Marie (Deininger) Parsons. <br><br>Final resting place will be in Mentor Cemetery following the service on Friday.<br><br>In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to Lake County Humane Society, 7564 Tyler Boulevard, Unit E, Mentor, OH 44060.<br>
