A celebration of the life of Robert Joseph Smith, Jr., 72, of Euclid, will begin at 2 PM on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the home of his son, Gary Smith, at 6568 Elmwood Road, Mentor, 44060. <br><br>Mr. Smith passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 17, 2016.<br><br>Born April 7, 1944 in Painesville, he was a longtime Northeast Ohio resident and then lived in Myrtle Beach, SC for 16 years before returning to Ohio in 2011.<br><br>He was a United States Navy veteran and loved to visit scientific websites. He was mechanically inclined and loved the outdoors, but most especially treasured time spent with family.<br><br>Survivors are his wife of 27 years, Diane R. (Parker) Smith; children, Tina Lister (Chuck), Gary (Cathy) Smith, William (Kristian) Stull, Sheridan (Salvatore) Vecchio and Johnathan (Larissa) Eperesi; 16 grandchildren and many beloved great grandchildren. He also leaves his sister, Debi Cafone and his nephew, Tim Cafone.<br><br>He was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Smith and sister, Sandy Kaplowitz.<br><br>In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to your favorite charity. <br><br>

Mr. Smith passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 17, 2016.
