Roy W. Jahnke

Services for Roy W. Jahnke, 78, formerly of Willoughby Hills, will be at 4 PM on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

The family will receive friends from 1-4 PM on Sunday, prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Born January 1, 1939 in Cleveland, he had lived in Cleveland and Euclid before moving to Willoughby Hills more than 25 years ago.

Mr. Jahnke passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Kemper House in Highland Heights.

Roy was a member of Willoughby Hills United Methodist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir, and was also a member and Past Master of the former Woodward Lodge 508 Free and Accepted Masons (now East Gate Lodge 796) and Al Koran Shrine.

He was a United States Army veteran serving in Hawaii. He also enjoyed golf, traveling and cheering on the Cleveland Indians and Browns. Roy was an accomplished bowler and woodworker, creating many handcrafted pieces which will certainly become family heirlooms. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Brennan and Shelby.

Mr. Jahnke was employed by the General Electric Corporation Lighting Division in Cleveland, retiring in 1996.

Survivors are his childhood sweetheart and wife of 57 years, Nancy (Casher) Jahnke; son, William (Lisa) Jahnke; grandchildren, Brennan and Shelby Jahnke and brother, Dave (Elaine) Jahnke. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Thelma (Munz) Jahnke.

Private family burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery.
