Theodore Kurth

Theodore R. "Ted" Kurth, 80, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, Friday, August 31, 2012 after a lengthy illness. He was a lifelong resident of Mentor, Ohio. Mr. Kurth spent his entire career working for the United State Post Office. He started as a carrier, and ended his career as Postmaster of Painesville, Ohio.<br> He leaves behind his beloved wife of 61 years, Beverly (Gordon) Kurth, son, Ted R. Kurth, Jr., daughter, Kathleen (Kurth) Covell, grandson, Jamey R. (Jamie Lynn) Covell, great-grandchildren, Parker and Mackinley Covell, brother in law, Bill Sitzes, niece, Susan Sitzes, and nephew, Scott (Kerri) Sitzes.<br> He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Pearl Kurth, his sister, Barbara (Kurth) Sitzes, and his beloved grandson, Regan Robert Covell.<br> Theodore always said that he was so proud of his grandson, Jamey Covell, for becoming a Mentor Policeman as well as feeling great pride for his great grandchildren, Parker and Mackinley Covell.<br> As per Theodore's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A ceremony for his family will be at the gravesite.<br> Theodore also wanted to mention the wonderful and professional care that he received from the Mentor EMT's during their many trips back and forth to the hospital as well as the Officers from the Mentor Police Department and also to the physicians who treated him, Dr. John Baniewicz, Dr. George Trimball, Dr. Stefan Pop, Dr. Michael Campbell and Dr. David Roth from Lake West Medical Center and Dr. Kevin Bilant, DPM for his home visits. But most of all, the love and compassion that his friend and nurse Char MacKnight from Home Health Care of Lake County gave him during his struggle.<br> Arrangements entrusted to Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, Willoughby.
