Obituary
Services for Violet L. “Vi” (Brown) Powers, 93, of Mentor, will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Erieside Church on the Boulevard, 221 East 320th Street, Willowick. The Rev. Larry A. Pozza will officiate at the service.
Mrs. Powers passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at her home.
Born September 21, 1921 in Euclid, she has lived in Mentor for the past 42 years.
She was an active member of Erieside Church on the Boulevard for 70 years, where she served as a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, Secretary and Pioneer Girls Explorer Guide and The Gideon’s International. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by many.
Survivors are her husband of 72 years, Don E. Powers; children, Don E. Powers of Painesville, Diane L. (Robert) Heintz of Mentor and David M. Powers of Kalamazoo, MI; grandchildren, Robert (Carolyn) Heintz, Keith Heintz and Don F. Powers; four great-grandchildren, Alex, Stefani, Tori and Kevin; and sister, Phyllis Brown Stafford of Painesville. She also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Edwin and Olive Blanche (Pawley) Brown and siblings, William “Art” Brown, Doris Brown and Richard Brown.
The family will receive friends from 2-4, 6-8 PM on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.
Final resting place will be in Whitehaven Memorial Park, Mayfield Village.
