William J. Bauer

William J. Bauer, age 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his family.<br><br>Born February 4, 1928 in Cleveland, he has lived in Willoughby Hills for the past 48 years.<br><br>He was a World War II United States Marine Corps veteran. He enjoyed playing the organ and a variety of instruments, electronics, avid with flight-simulator and R/C flying, magic, woodworking and was able to repair most anything.<br><br>Mr. Bauer was employed as quality assurance director with Bird Electronics, retiring in 1993 after 18 years of service. He previously worked 10 years as regional communications manager for the Wall Street Journal in Chicago.<br><br>Survivors are his wife of 65 years, Joan M. (Schaefer) Bauer; sons, William (Lynn) Bauer, Robert (Nancy) Bauer and Edward Bauer; eight grandchildren, many great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren.and many nieces and nephews and their families.<br><br>He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Theresa (Wetzel) Bauer; brothers, Joseph Bauer and Edward Bauer; and sisters, Theresa Clemons and Anna Miller. <br><br>Interment will be at Knollwood Cemetery at a later date.<br><br>In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to become a volunteer at Grace Hospice.<br>
