Fern Wilson Obituary

Fern Wilson, age 94 went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on November 25, 2009. She was born on January 14, 1915 to John and Winfred Schweitzer of Calumet, Oklahoma. She lived a good long and full life with much enjoyment. She met D.A. Wilson while attending college in Edmond, Oklahoma. She earned a teaching certificate after two years while waiting for Dad to finish college. They were married on Easter Sunday April 12, 1936, they later moved to Oklahoma City where she owned and operated a beauty shop before going to work at Tinker Air Force Base in the Bomb Site department. In 2003 when our Dad passed away they had been married for 67 years. Some of those years where spent on a farm near Anadarko, Oklahoma where my brother Larry and I grew up. Dad and Mom raised cattle and some sheep. She helped Dad on the farm driving the wheat truck, and later, hen Dad went to work at Sequoia Carpet Mills, she and I helped by feeding the cattle in the winter. She is Past Worth Matron of the Eastern Stars Chapter in Anadarko. In 1973 they sold the farm and moved to Grove to retire. Here I grove is where they spent the last of their years together. In the early years here, they loved the lake and were often seen sitting in their front yard on 16th street watching the boats and calling in the many ducks that Dad would feed. In 1998 they moved to their present home, where mom spent the rest of her days enjoying playing bridge, and spending time with grandchildren. She is survived in death by her son Larry Wilson and his wife Jeanne of Salem, Wisconsin, daughter Donna Tanner and her husband Robert of Grove, Oklahoma, her grandchildren Adam Wilson of Brooklyn, New York, CJ Wilson of San Jose, California, Cristy Tanner and Allen Tanner both of Grove, Oklahoma, one Great-Grandchild EJ Wilson of Brooklyn New York, one sister Muriel Buckholt of Jacksonville, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Glenn, Marion and Jean Schweitzer, and her husband DA Wilson. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. Momma may you fly on the wings of Angels to our Lord in Heaven. Be at peace, We Love You. Graveside services were held 2:00 p.m., on Friday, November 27, 2009 at the Buzzard Cemetery in Grove, Oklahoma with Pastor Dewey Stanford officiating.
