Johnathan David Brainard Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Obituary

Johnathan David Brainard

Johnathan David Brainard, of Coyle Oklahoma, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, May 17, 2020. He was born to Molly Gaile Ward Jenkins and David Lee Brainard on May 27,1995. After graduating from high school, he went to a semester of college, but he decided it was not for him. He said he was not going to pay good money for someone to try to indoctrinate him into socialism. He then moved to Atlanta to be a rapper. Some thought he was crazy, but he was admired chasing his dream. He never made it big, but he was still writing songs just before he died. In Atlanta, he worked at Ideal Air for five years before coming home to Oklahoma. Just before Johnathan died, he got his general contractors license and started his own business—quite an accomplishment for a 24-year-old. He was a hard worker. There are things that some may not know about Johnathan. When the Covid outbreak started, he told his mom that he wanted give food to the homeless people. He often gave money to panhandlers. “That could be me, mom. I just want to help them.” He also wanted to pay the electric bill for his next door neighbor who is a bed-ridden invalid with two teenage sons. Despite the fact he was a troubled soul, he wanted to do good and he had a huge heart. We love him deeply and will miss his goofy laugh and and tenacious spirit. Good-bye precious young man. We will see you in heaven. He is survived by his father David Brainard, mother Molly Jenkins and stepfather Brett Jenkins, sister Ariel Braswell, her husband George and their two boys, Finn and Kennedy, and grandparents, Carlton and Gaile Ward. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lee and Delberta Brainard and his great grandmother, Doris Murphy. He was laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery on Friday, May 22, 2020 in a family graveside service. Memorial contributions may be made to: JESUS HOUSE, 1335 W SHERIDAN AVE.
