She met the love of her life John Valeriano who gave her two beautiful daughters, Colleen and Joy. Kathleen was a devoted wife and mother. Her eyes would always light up accompanied by a bright smile at the mention of the names of her two granddaughters, Meghan and Grace. She was passionate about helping others by serving for many years as a volunteer to assist and teach developmentally delayed children in the Newington, Connecticut public school system. She was on the parish council for Holy Spirit Church in Newington for over 10 years. She volunteered and served in many soup kitchens throughout her life. Kathleen grew up in Connecticut, lived in Rancho Mirage, California and eventually moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma in 2004.
Kathleen cherished the many friends that she made through the years and especially her friends at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where she was a member. She spent her last years at Golden Oaks Village in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She loved living at Golden Oaks because the staff loved her and treated her like a princess until her death. . A favorite aphorism of Kathleen’s was as follows:
Just One Friend
If Life gives only one true friend.
One who is faithful to the end.
Then Life has given more than gold-
The greatest joy a heart can hold.
If just one friend is ours to share-
To understand, believe and care
Then Life is sweet and true
Because of just-one friend life you!
Kathleen was, in fact, Just One Friend, but to many people throughout her life. A true, faithful, giving, believing, sweet and caring true friend to the end who loved our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
