Georgie Mae Meberg, 92, passed from this life Sunday, October 14, 2018, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018, in the White Cemetery in Hunter, Oklahoma. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Georgie was born on March 20, 1926, in Enid, OK to George and Della (Cockrell) Cross.
Georgie graduated from Hunter High School and went on to receive a Bachelors Degree in Science from Phillips University in Enid, OK. George Meberg took the hand of Georgie in marriage until his passing in 1984. Georgie spent 26 years with her friend and companion, Robert Reichman, until his passing in 2016.
Georgie taught at Eureka schools; she also owned and operated Ray’s Laundromat in Stillwater for 28 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, State and National Letter Carriers Auxiliary, and the Payne Center Club to H.C.E.
Georgie loved to watch sports. She liked spending her time volunteering at various nursing home facilities. She also enjoyed spending 10 years making lap robes for nursing home patients. Georgie would make 300 lap robes per year, until two years ago when her health started to decline.
Georgie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and friend and companion.
Georgie is survived by two sons, Mark; and David (Debbie) Meberg; three grandchildren, Kayla (Bryan) Hardesty, Ryan (Amanda) Meberg; Myah Meberg and Shawn Hancock; seven grandchildren, Arika Mastin, Brandon and Trent Hardesty, Lauren and Rylee Meberg, Major and Marly Archambo; two great great grandchildren, Kolbi and Cohen; and two bonus grandchildren, Kaden and Gavin Hancock.
