Curtis Lynn Ramsey

Private graveside services were held for Mr. Curtis Lynn Ramsey, 55, of Ardmore, on April 2, 2020. Officiating were his brothers in law, Stan Idell and Greg Idell. Interment was at Burneyville Cemetery. Services were under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home. Military Honors were observed with a flag presentation for his service in the United States Navy. Memorial Services will be held at a later date.<br>Curtis was born on January 18, 1965 in Ardmore to Randy Ramsey and JoAnn Clark. He departed this life on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital from complications following surgery.<br><br>Curtis spent a lot of his school years at Turner Schools. He transferred to Wilson his junior year and graduated with the Class of 1983. He attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University two years where he majored in broadcast journalism and was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity – Theta Chapter.<br>Curtis served aboard the aircraft carrier, The USS Dwight D Eisenhower CVN69, with the rank of Airman. He entered The United States Navy active duty January 1987. Curtis received the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and deployed to the Mediterranean and to the Southern Atlantic/Caribbean. His separation date was January 1989 and remained inactive reserve until he was honorably discharged December 1994. <br><br>Curtis married Sherry Brinlee December 25, 1988. They were the parents to three sons.<br>In June of 2012, a random Facebook encounter reintroduced Curtis to one of his best friends from childhood. Becoming inseparable, Curtis married Sherry (Idell) Wheatley June 1, 2017 at Lake Murray Chapel.<br>Curtis enjoyed learning and doing many things and held numerous jobs, including working at KKAJ, Wilson Police Department, Hill Country, Michelin, and an extended time in the oilfield as an MWD hand and other positions. At the time of his death he was a delivery parts driver for O’Reilly’s Auto.<br>Spending time with family and friends and staying home with his wife and puppies were valued times to Curtis. He was very proud of his boys and grandchildren. A classic rock music enthusiast, he knew more trivia than most. A huge football fan: Curtis enthusiastically supported the OU Sooners.<br><br>Preceding Curtis in death was his second wife Deanna, May 13, 2007; and a son Dakota Wheatley on October 6, 2016 and several grandparents.<br><br>Survivors include his wife and mother of Dakota, Sherry of the home; sons, Brandon Ramsey and Danielle Van Horn of Biloxi, MS, Curtis Ramsey Jr. and wife Cassidy of Wilson and Marcus Brinlee and wife Glenda of Lone Grove; parents, Wayne and JoAnn Brown of Wilson and Randy and Connie Ramsey of Flower Mound, TX; maternal grandmother, Maxine Clark of Wilson; brothers, Tim Brown and wife Monica of Wilson and Bryan Ramsey and wife Lauren of Northlake, TX; sisters in law, Barbara Idell and Peggy Guthrie, both of Madill; brothers in law, Stan Idell and wife Shelia of Ardmore and Greg Idell and wife Shawn of Madill; the mother of his sons, Sherry Brinlee; and other family. Curtis was also fondly Grand-Turtle and Uncle Turtle to numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.<br><br>Casket Bearers at the graveside service were Brandon Ramsey, Curtis Ramsey Jr., Marcus Brinlee, Tim Brown, Mark Idell and Christian Idell.<br><br>In memory of Curtis, donations may be made to the Burneyville Cemetery Fund, in care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home 1302 7th Wilson, OK 73463.<br>
