Curtis Barnes

Curtis Edward Barnes Sr. answered the Master’s call Wednesday night June 12th, 2019 at Warminster Hospice Hospital, Huntingdon Valley Pa. Curtis was born in Greensville, North Carolina to the late Flemming Barnes and Ella Pratt Barnes. He was predeceased by two Brothers: Jessie and Ray Barnes and one Sister: Mary Barnes.Curtis was a long time resident of Philadelphia and Abington Pa.He was initially educated in the Public School System in system in Greensville N.C. and continued his education in Dobbins High School in Philadelphia. There he studied the Culinary Art of Baking and Cake Decorating. He was very successful in a twenty year baking career at Cake Master’s Kosher Bakery. He then went to work for the South Eastern Public Transportation Authority (SEPTA), where he retired as a Revenue Quality Control Supervisor and served as a Union Representative for Local 234. He was a member of the Richard Allen Masonic Lodge, an avid bowler, who twice recorded a sanctioned perfect game and also enjoyed deep sea fishing. He was a Gospel Singer who led and performed with various Gospel groups including The Gospel Chariot Wheels of Philadelphia, The Golden Voices, the Southern Wonders and the Sensational Starlight Gospel Singers. He was a current member of Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. John Edward Douglas. He served on the Male Chorus and supported whatever/whenever necessary. He leaves his loving legacy to be cherished and remembered by; his loving Wife: Susie Barnes, one Son: Curtis Jr. (Sandra) in California, one Grand Son: Curtis Ill (Taylor) in Washington State, four Grand Daughters: Tracey in Philadelphia, Tiffany, Karla, and Valerie in California, four Great Grand Daughters: Victoria and Sydnee in Philadelphia, Bryanna (John) in Maryland and Aaliyah in California, one Great-Great Grand Son: Jayden in Maryland, one God Son: Victor (Darlene) in Philadelphia, one God Daughter: Kimberly in North Carolina and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
