Linda Barlett

Linda L. Swarm Barlett, 69, of Bellefonte, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on September 28, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Elwood and Caroline (Quici) Swarm. She was a 1965 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. She enjoyed an active life and worked at Penn State University as a secretary before a tragic accident in 1983 left her as a quadriplegic. Even after her accident, she loved the company of her friends, family and extended family of her wonderful caregivers. Linda lived most of her life in Bellefonte and Pleasant Gap but also resided in Key West, Florida and California. She is survived by one daughter, Nicole Barlett (Carl) of Pleasant Gap; two sisters, Agnes Rockey (David) of Bellefonte, Barbara Swarm Berg (John Norris) of Mass. Also surviving are a niece, Beth (Gary) Gibson, great niece, Kiersten, great nephew, Christopher, nephew David (Melissa) Rockey, great nephew Nicholas, niece Marlee, nephew Graham, and two grand-dogs, Picasso and Mack. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Michelle Barlett and one brother, Robert Swarm. She enjoyed reading, playing jeopardy, watching soaps, and following her beloved Nittany Lions. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bellefonte. Linda was an inspiration to all who knew or encountered her. Linda had a smile that could light up the entire room. She carried herself with such immeasurable strength and grace. She was a hero to her family and truly the ‘wind beneath their wings.’ A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from 6-8pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. at 206 N. Spring Street Bellefonte. Funeral services will be held on her birthday, Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the funeral home at 10am with Pastor Candace Dannecker officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. It is written that God entrusts us with a mission that begins the day we are born. This mission is completed in the most perfect way by completing it on one’s birthday. Linda’s mission on Earth has been completed and she will enter her eternal home on her birthday.
