Nancy Palfey Obituary

Nancy Ann Palfey, 53, October 31, 1963 – April 8, 2017 went home in the presence of family on Saturday, April 8 at Centre Crest Nursing Home, after a brief courageous battle with Frontal Temporal Degeneration. Born in Hazelton, Nancy was the daughter of Apolonia (Kostick) Palfey, and the late William J. Palfey. On August 3, 1989, she married David Files who survives at home, with their daughters Sarah Palfey Files, and Grace Margaret Files. Nancy graduated from West Hazelton High School in 1981, and Antonelli Art Institute in 1985. Her career as an artist had taken her from a Commercial Artist at the Daily Collegian, T-Shirt Designer for Collegiate Pride, and Sign Painter with her husband, and Award Winning Fine Artist. Her interest in art also included that of gifted seamstress creating bags, purses, and clothing for her family. Nancy is also survived by her brothers, William Palfey (Janet), Fairfax VA, Bruce Palfey (Kim), Ann Arbor, MI, Jeffrey Palfey (Lisa), Conyngham, PA, and sisters Jacqueline Capanelli, Fair Haven, NJ, and Barbara Palfey, Sweet Valley, PA. Nancy is also survived by her husband’s family, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews, and countless friends and the devoted friends and staff at Centre Crest Nursing Home. There will be a public visitation held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 6-8pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte with a Christian wake at 7:45 with Deacon Thomas Boldin officiating. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 10am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte, PA with Father George Jakopac officiating. Burial will follow at Centre County Memorial Park, State College. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: AFTD, Radnor Station Building 2, Suite 320, 290 King of Prussia Road, Radnor, PA 19087, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823, and Centre Crest Nursing Home, 502 E. Howard Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823. The family would like to thank the loving staff at Centre Crest’s Stanton Court.
