Alice Louise Smeal, 98, Belleville, formerly of Wehnwood and Riggles Gap went to be with the Lord Saturday morning at Valley View Haven, Belleville. She was born in Altoona daughter of the late Herbert and Esther (Burkett) Suckling. She married John Allen Smeal, Jr. on Aug. 24, 1937 in Cumberland, Md. and he preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 1999. She is survived by two daughters, Judith Ann Jantz of Sexsmith, Alberta Canada and Kathryn Carla Fagan of Altoona; a son; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Bea DeBoe of Florida. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Barry Smeal in 1952; and 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Alice attended Big Valley Brethren in Christ Church. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and oil painting still life. She loved to read the Bible and shared Jesus with everyone. She taught Sunday school and Ladies Bible study and was also a counselor at many church camps. Alice particularly loved to work and mentor teenagers. A celebration of Alice’s life will be held at 2pm Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016 at Valley View Retirement Community Chapel, Belleville, Chaplin Gerald Peachy officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Alice’s memory be made to Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry, Inc. P.O.
