Barbara Myers

Barbara Lee (Poppenwimer) Myers, 61, Bellwood passed away Sunday at UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh. She was born in Philipsburg daughter of Alois and Mary (Laird) Poppenwimer. She married Luther Myers on June 18, 1977 in Altoona. Surviving are her husband; three sons: Luke (Athena) of Bakersfield, CA, Ethan of Barstow, CA, Michael of Rancho, CA; two daughters, Grace and Lily, both at home; a step son, Terry Zimmer of Apollo; five grandchildren, Dagon, Keoni, Kage, Rose and Bryanna; her parents of Fostoria; a brother, Mike (Mimi) Poppenwimer of Fort Collins, CO; five sisters: Ruth Ann (Ben) Lightner of Bellwood, Louise (Dan) Jaskowak of Casper, WY, Catherine Poppenwimer of North Conway, NH, Margaret Shope of Bellwood and Maryann (Kevin) Burke of Casper, WY; and she was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Barbara was a 1970 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School and a graduate of Appalachian Bible College. She attended Hillside Community Church, Bellwood. Barbara enjoyed reading cookbooks and magazines and taking care of her children. Friends will be received from 6-9pm Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 11am, Friday, June 27, 2014 at Hillside Community Church, Bellwood. A further celebration of Barbara’s life will be held by her family at a later date in July. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society.
