Betty G. Coady, 93, Epworth Manor, Tyrone formerly of Bellwood died Monday morning January 21, 2019 at the manor.She was born September 29, 1925 in Altoona, daughter of the late Roy Milton and Mary Florence (Knipple) Daugherty. On May 20, 1946 she married Merrill R. “Red” Coady in Cumberland, Md., and he preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 2017. Surviving are four children, William (Wanda) and Barbara (Bob) Hockenberry both of Bellwood, Russ (Deb) of Tyrone and Ron (Ingrid) of Ocala, Fla.; six grandchildren, Cory Coady, whom was raised in her home, of Belmond, Iowa, Jody (Terry)Adams of Bellwood, Terri Jo (Scott) Pearce of Tipton, Brian Coady in Virginia, Misty (Tim)Steiner of Wilmington, N.C., and Jim (Allie) Dillard of Bel Air, Md.; fifteen great grandchildren; and a sister, Thelma (Eugene) Nagle of Fairless Hills. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry A.; a granddaughter, Tina Showalter; and two brothers, Robert and Edward. Betty was a 1944 graduate of Altoona Area High School. She retired in 1981 as a clerk at Rolls Meat Market, Tipton where she worked part time while raising her family. Betty attended Tipton Baptist Church where she formerly taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school. Betty loved to crochet. She loved spending time with and hearing stories about her grandchildren and great grandchildren and also attending their birthday celebrations. Friends will be received from 10am to 1pm, Friday, January 25, 2019 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 1pm Friday at the funeral home, Pastor Timothy Allen officiating. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood. The family suggests that contributions in Betty’s memory be made to Tipton Baptist Church.
