C. Gaynell Benner

C. Gaynell “Sis” Benner, 75, Bellwood passed away Thursday evening at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Pinecroft daughter of William E., Sr. and the late Marie A. (Barnes) Benner. Surviving are her father of Bellwood; four sisters, Donna Peterson of Tipton, Eleanor Sollenberger of Curryville, Barbara Benner of Altoona and Denise Thompson of Bellwood; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, William E. Benner, Jr.; a nephew, Alan Sollenberger; and a brother in law, David Peterson. Sis was a 1959 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School and was formerly employed as a fancy stitcher at Pennsylvania Shoe Company, Altoona. She was an active member of Logan’s Valley Baptist Church Bellwood where she served on many church committees and was president of the Mission Society of the church. Sis enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Friends will be received from 10am – noon, Monday, Dec. 5, 2016 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood, where a funeral service will be held at 12noon Monday, Rev. Funteller Jackson officiating. Interment at Blair Memorial Park Antis Township. The family suggests contributions be made to Logan’s Valley Baptist Church Mission Society.
