Charles W. Shade, 76, Mountaindale, died unexpectedly Monday March 11, 2019 at UPMC Altoona. He was born March 5, 1943 in Altoona, son of the late Clyde and Hazel (Klinger) Shade. On Oct. 16, 1993 he married Janet M. Keith in Houtzdale. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Todd Shade of Philadelphia and William (Cary) Haney of Clearfield; three daughters, Bonnie (Kent) Caldwell of Curwensville, Brenda (Russ) Peterson of Morrisdale and Barbara Haney of Clearfield; four grandchildren, Dustin, Ryan, Chris and Kenndra; two great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Paddy Shade of Mountaindale, Bill Greene of Bellwood, Darlene Greene of Deland, Fla., Bonnie Karlson of Stow, Ohio, Carolyn Davis in Florida and Barbara Damiano of Bellwood. He was preceded in death by siblings, Marlin, Dale, Larry Greene, Madeline White and Janet Miner. Charles was a 1961 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School and a veteran of the US Air Force serving during the Vietnam Era. He was a self- employed welder and also worked as a security guard. He was a fan of NASCAR and stock car racing at Houtzdale and Clearfield. Charles enjoyed spending time on his computer burning CDs and ordering supplies over the internet. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2019 at the funeral home, Pastor Ben Warfel officiating. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood. The family suggests contributions in his memory be made to the funeral home to aid in funeral expenses.
