Chester Dillen Obituary

Chester Lewis Dillen, 84, Bellwood died Friday morning June 30, 2017 at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona. He was born February 13, 1933 in Bellwood son of the late Chester M. and Margaret (Haverstein) Dillen. He met the love of his life, Catharine May Ludwig at Shippensburg State College and on August 23, 1956 they married in Leavenworth, Kansas. Surviving are his wife; three sons, Joseph L. (Janet) of Altoona, Michael C. of Philadelphia and David E.(Mindy) of Altoona; a grandson, Philip; a granddaughter, Jenny; a great grandson, Dakota; a brother, Albert L. “Chub” of Bellwood; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert “Tex” Dillen. He was a 1951 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School, a 1958 graduate of Shippensburg State College and a veteran of the US Army. Chet began his teaching and coaching career at Northern Bedford High School. In 1960 he continued his teaching and coaching career at Bellwood Antis High School where he taught World Cultures and America History and was also head football coach and coached various others sports until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of Logan’s Valley Baptist Church, Bellwood. Chet was an avid fan of all sports. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards and reading anything involving history. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of Keystone Rod and Gun Club, Renova and United Veterans Association, Bellwood. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8pm Wednesday, July 5, 2017 and 10-11am Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 11am Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the funeral home, Rev. Funteller Jackson officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
