Donald P. “Phil” Erickson, Sr., 75, Bellwood died unexpectedly Tuesday morning February 26, 2019 at UPMC Altoona. He was born January 29, 1944 in Altoona son of the late John and Ella Mae (Richards) Erickson. In October 1961 he married Helen G. Sipes in Altoona, and she preceded him in death on May 30 2016. Surviving are her son, Donald P., Jr. (Judy) of Bellwood; three grandchildren, Heather (Mike) McClellan, Samantha (Torrey) Morgan and Liz Erickson; three great grandchildren, Trenton, Parker and Makenzie; a brother, Pete in North Carolina; a sister, Shirley of Altoona; and many nieces and nephews. Phil was employed as director of environmental service at Mercy Hospital, Altoona for 35 years and later retired as head of the maintenance department at Blair Medical Associates, Altoona. He was a life member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Bellwood. He enjoyed hunting, fishing with his great grandson, Trenton and he especially enjoyed spending time with his son, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2019 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of his family. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood. The family suggests that contributions in Phil’s memory be made to The Hope Center, Inc. 421 Main St. Bellwood, Pa. 16617
