Dorothy L. Sharer, 97, Antis Township, passed into eternity Saturday evening August 3, 2019 at her home. She was born October 23, 1921 in Gardner, daughter of the late Benson Conrad and Georgia (Maguire-Conrad) Miller. On April 24, 1940, she married Gilbert H. Sharer, Jr. in Stevens City, Va., and he preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 2008. Surviving are four daughters, Lucinda J. Mountain of Wilmington, Del, Linda J. Sharer-Showalter of Altoona, Lucille J. Russell of Hollidaysburg, and Lisbeth J. DelGrosso of Altoona; two sons, John R. of Charleston, S.C. and James A. (Mary Beth) of Mt. Jewett; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 16 great great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jane E. Ramsey of Port Matilda. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, David Miller; a daughter, Lisa Jean; a brother, Alfred Conrad; and two sons-in-law, Robert Russell and James Mountain. In 1984, Dorothy retired as an inspector for SKF Industries, Altoona. She was a member of Riggles Gap Bible Church. Friends will be received from 10 am to noon Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at noon on Thursday at the funeral home, with Dorothy’s nephew, Pastor Richard Horner officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
