Dr. John C. Lewis, Ph.D, 88, a native of Akron, Ohio and resident of Houma, Louisiana passed away January 18, 2019 in Louisiana. Surviving are a son, Jay A. (Teri) Lewis; a daughter, Janice (Ed) Lamy; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and his companion, Edna Marie Sevin. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey; his parents, James and Esther Lewis; and a brother, Jim He retired as a professor of geography at the University of Louisiana at Monroe after 30 years of service. An avid musician, he performed with various orchestras and bands throughout his career. A graveside service will be held at 10am Friday, January 25, 2019 at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood, Pastor Bryan Spang officiating.
