Duane Barrett Obituary

Duane William “Doowop” Barrett, 75, Altoona went home to be with the Lord Friday morning at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Bellwood son of the late Andrew W. and Lavina (McCaulley) Barrett. On October 14, 1968 he married Kathy DeMarco in Burlington, New Jersey. He is survived by his wife of 48 years; four daughters, London Barrett of Virginia Beach, Va., Dianna (John) Matthew of Altoona, Annette (Dan) Miller of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Tammi (Tim Ickes) Barrett of Altoona; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, who were the love of his life; a brother, Lowell A. (LoAnn) of Levittown; two sisters, Joan Clark of Harrisburg and Bonnie L. (Dave) Kuiawa of Bellwood; and many nieces and nephews. He was a US Army veteran serving during the Vietnam Era from 1966-68. Duane retired as kitchen coordinator at Bellmeade Manor, Altoona. He loved 50’s music, stock car races, bowling, karaoke, and going out to eat. A graveside service, with military honors, will be held at 2pm Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood, Pastor Jim Balzano officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory be made to the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home or Pleasant Valley Assembly of God, Altoona.
