Dwight M. Patton, 86, Bellwood died early Thursday morning at Valley View Health and Rehabilitation Center, Altoona. He was born in Bellwood son of the late Joseph H. and Ivella (Wyland) Patton He married Lucille M. Treese on Dec. 25, 1950 in Bellwood and she preceded him in death on Nov. 28, 1987. Surviving are a son, Steven K. (Robin) of Hollidaysburg; three daughters, Susann M. (Randy) Markel of Seven Valleys, Donna L. (Fred) Sweigert and Margaret “Meg” Patton both of Bellwood; six grandchildren, Nevin (Erin) Markel of Charlotte, NC., Courtney (Andrew) Hershey of Jefferson, Lindsay (Dave) McCahan of Bellwood, Danielle Patton of York, Shaun (Kathy) Sweigert of Tipton and Corey Sweigert of Altoona; nine great grandchildren; step grandchildren, Morgan, Taylor and Lindsey; a brother, Milton R. of Altoona; and his longtime companion, Mary Ann Hoffer of Bellwood. He was preceded in death by five brothers, William B., John W., Robert J., Earl L. and Harold E.; and three sisters, Emma L. Dunn, Ruth N. Hammond and Marion F. Goss. Dwight was a 1947 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School where he was proud to have played on the 1946-47 undefeated football team. He was formerly employed at A&P and retired as owner /operator of Food Rite Market, Bellwood. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Dwight was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood. He enjoyed hunting, fishing in Canada, traveling, gambling bus trips and was an avid football fan. He especially enjoyed family gatherings. Friends will be received from 11am – 1pm, Monday, January 5, 2015 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 1pm Monday at the funeral home, Rev. Robert Stump officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township. The family suggests that contributions in Dwight’s memory be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood.
