Edward J. “Butch” Maillard, Jr., 66, Bellwood died unexpectedly Wednesday at his home. He was born in Altoona son of Julia J. (Zebrowski) and the late Edward J., Maillard, Sr. On May 14, 2005 he married Mary C. Wertz at Penn State - Altoona Campus. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Jennifer (Brian) Budd and Jaime (Andrew) Story both of Freehold, New Jersey; a son, Daniel P. (Jessie) of Woodbridge, Va.; three step sons, Brian (Christy)Wertz of Patuxent, Md., Edward (Nicole) Grogg of Columbus, Ohio and Richard Grogg of Youngstown, Ohio; eleven grandchildren; his mother of Altoona; and two sisters, Barbara (William) Long and Carole McElhinney both of Altoona. Butch retired as an electrician/foreman at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. He was a member of Bellwood American Legion, Sons of the American Legion, Bellwood Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Swiss Rifle Club and Unter Uns of Altoona. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood. Butch enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing his guitar, music and singing karaoke. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8pm Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service outside of Mass will be held at 10am Monday, April 30, 2018 at the funeral home, Rev. Alan Thomas officiating. Committal will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
