Eugene Siters

Eugene R. Siters, 83, Bellwood died Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Shands at University Florida Hospital, Gainesville, Florida with his wife and daughters by his side. He was born in Bellwood son of the late Albert George and Cleona Edna (Bowers) Siters. He married Janet L. Carey on July 18, 1953 at Holy Rosary Church, Juniata. Surviving are his wife; three daughters: Linda (John) Hurliman, Colleen (Charles) Carruthers and Sandra (Harry) Haulman, all of Altoona; five grandchildren: Mark Siters, Amy McClellan, Chad Carruthers, Ashley Craig and Erich Hurliman; eight great grandchildren: Quentin, Trenton and Rosslynn Siters, Gabriella and Carey Musselman, Cadence and Dylan Carruthers and Wynter Craig; a brother: Barry (Cheryl) Siters of Haines City, FL; and two sisters: Maxine (Charles) Ocasek of El Paso TX and Alberta (Dean) Campbell of Bellwood. Eugene was a 1948 graduate of Bellwood Antis High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict and retired as an electrician with IBEW Local 5, Pittsburgh. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bellwood. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, NRA and North American Hunting Club. Eugene had a love of reading, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at his home in Florida. He especially loved time with his family. A funeral mass will be held at 10am Saturday, April 26, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bellwood, the Rev. David H. Roesch celebrant. Committal with military honors will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood. The family suggests that contributions in Eugene’s memory be made to (STI) Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute Forbes Tower Suite 8084 3600 Forbes Ave. at Meyran Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15213
