Frances Coffman

Frances P. “Fran” Coffman, 89, Bellmeade died early Friday morning Jan. 4, 2019 at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona. She was born Oct. 23, 1929 in Huntingdon, daughter of the late Paul F. and Beulah F. (Robb) Beaver. On Dec. 5, 1952, she married Samuel L. Coffman at Trinity Evangelical Reformed Church, McConnellstown, and he preceded her in death on June 25, 1999. Surviving are a daughter, Cheryl Ann (Jim) Mattas of State College; a son, Douglas L. (Terri) of Altoona; and a grandson, Justin L. Mattas of Baltimore. She was preceded in death by a brother Franklin; and a sister Jean Householder. Fran loved music and was an accomplished organist and played for numerous area churches. She was the founder and choir director of the original Bellwood-Antis Community Choir. Fran was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood where she served many years as choir director and organist and was also a member of the Philethea Sunday School Class. She enjoyed flower gardening. Friends will be received from 4-7pm, Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 11am Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019 at the funeral home, Pastor Randy Zitterbart officiating. Interment will be at McConnellstown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in Fran’s memory be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood.
