Frances T. (Kneidinger) Homsey, 86 a resident of Graystone Manor at Bellmeade was welcomed home into the loving arms of the Holy Spirit on Wednesday afternoon after a long life of giving, nurturing and loving.
She was born in Altoona daughter of the late August and Frances “Fannie”(Schaffelhuber) Kneidinger. She married Joseph Homsey, Jr. on Jan. 23, 1950 in Winchester, VA and he preceded her in death on July 6, 2005. Surviving are a son, Joe Homsey of Antis Township; three daughters: Mona L. (Barry) Rosskamp of North East, Sherie F. Tun of Marinez, Calif., and Bonita S. (Gary) Finley of Opelika, Ala.;five granddaughters: Lisa Finley, Lynn Rosskamp, Stacey and Jennifer Tun, and Mallory Homsey. She was preceded in death by a son, Terrance “Corky” in 1990 ; a brother, Gus and a sister, Louise Baum. Frances moved to Bellwood in 1957. She spent her life giving, caring and supporting her family and her church, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bellwood. She supported countless Little League teams, track and girl’s hockey teams, bowling leagues and other charitable causes. For decades she could be seen riding her bicycle all around Bellwood, Bellmeade and Greenwood. Frances was an avid swimmer and loved playing pinochle. Her constant companion over the past decade, was her golden retriever, Toby. Frances’ lasting legacy would be her homemade fudge and Eastertime peanut butter eggs. She will be missed by all.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8pm Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service outside of mass will be held at 10am Monday, March 31, 2014 at the funeral home, Monsignor Robert C. Mazur officiating. Committal will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
