Genevieve A Walters Obituary

Genevieve A. “Jennie” Walters, 89 of Antis Township died Thursday morning at UPMC Altoona. She was born on the family farm in Antis Township daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Obermeier) Dambeck. She married Dale E. Walters, Jr. on January 1, 1948 in Altoona then renewed their vows on Sept. 16, 1950 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1990. Surviving are three children, Mary Jo Goetz, Larry E. and Kathy E. (Anthony) Carosielli all of Antis Township; six grandchildren; Dawn (Vince) Negro, David and John Walters, Richard and Rodger Goetz, and Joseph Carosielli; two great grandchildren; Alexis Negro and Jazmine Lovell; and a sister, Martha (Francis) Hagg of Tyrone. She was preceded in death by 6 brothers, Ludwig, Raymond, Francis, Herman, Theodore and Robert Dambeck; 3 sisters, Marcella Berlehner, Mildred Martin and Isabel DeArmitt; a great grandson, Zachary Walters; son in law Richard Goetz; and daughter in law, Thelma Walters. Jennie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Bellwood where she was the CCD principal and teacher for more than 25 years. She enjoyed feeding the hummingbirds at her home. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8pm Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral mass will be held at 10am Monday, October 19, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood, Rev. Alan Thomas as celebrant. Committal will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood. The family suggests that contributions in Jennie’s memory be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood.
