H. Edward “Ed” Smith, 76, Roots Crossing, died Thursday morning June 23, 2016 at his home. He was born July 3, 1939 in Duncansville son of the late Homer Franklin and Mary Elizabeth (Irwin) Smith. He married Paulette A. Kruise on Dec. 10, 1960 in Altoona. Surviving are his wife of 55 years; a son, Marc E. of Mechanicsburg; two granddaughters, Jamie Lynn Ervine and Heather Marie Smith; two great grandchildren, Loreli Adolynne Ervine and Maklin David Marriner; and nieces and nephews. Ed retired as a repairman at Veeder Root Corp, Duncansville and was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. He enjoyed watching television, doing word search puzzles, and sports. Ed was an avid boxing fan and had also coached Little League Baseball in Bellwood. Friends will be received from 2-4pm Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 4pm Sunday at the funeral home, Rev. Dave Ervine officiating. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to his family.
