Joan Kay Dengate, 74, Altoona died unexpectedly Thursday at her home.
She was born in Altoona daughter of the late Harry W. and Nelly K. (Bopp) Goldstein.
She married Lucien R. Dengate on April 21, 1973 in Altoona and he died October 28, 2002.
Surviving are her children; Lucien R., Jr. of Altoona, David of Port Matilda, Ronald of Tyrone,
Wendy J. Gerald and Dawn Helsley both of Altoona; eighteen grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and her friend, Leslie Korman of Altoona.
Joan retired as a medical records clerk at Altoona Hospital. She was a member of New Life Worship Center, Altoona. Joan enjoyed search-a-word puzzles, arts and crafts, traveling to fairs and fall foliage festivals, and listening to Elvis. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Penn State fan and especially loved spending time with her family.
Friends will be received from noon until 2pm, Monday, November 16, 2015 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 2pm Monday at the funeral home, Pastor Wayne Shaffer officiating. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
The family suggests that contributions in her memory be made to Central PA Humane Society, Altoona.
