John Rupert

John C. “Dewey” Rupert, Jr., 75, Altoona died early Saturday morning December 16, 2017 at his home. He was born February 23, 1942 in Altoona son of the late John C. and Grace A. (Wolfe) Rupert. On Jan. 31, 1970 he married Barbara K. Estep at Bellwood Church of the Brethren. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Kelly D. (Todd) Otto of Hollidaysburg and Andrea M. (Joe) Ruggery of Greensburg; two sons, Andrew M. of Altoona and Eric L. (Tracy) of Bellwood; six grandchildren, Devon Rupert, Cooper and Tenley Otto, and Elise, Josie and Christian Ruggery; a brother, Gary (Judy) of Altoona; and three sisters, Gloria Salomie and Sondra Rupert both of Altoona and Kathy (Larry) Ashby of Reno, Nev.; and his mother in law, Mid Estep of Altoona. He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Prescott. Dewey was a graduate of Altoona Area High School and retired as a mechanic at Altoona City Water Authority. He was a member of Covenant Community Church, Bellwood and he enjoyed hunting and woodworking. Friends will be received from 6-8pm Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 11am Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017 at Covenant Community Church Bellwood, Pastor Bob Strobel officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township. The family suggests that contributions in Dewey’s memory be made to Covenant Community Church, Bellwood.
