Kenneth Wilkinson Obituary

Kenneth Edward “Wilky” Wilkinson, 85, of Greenwood died Friday evening at his home. He was born in Altoona son of the late Herbert and Alice (Pointon) Wilkinson. He married Betty J. Fuoss on May 12, 1956 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Juniata Surviving are his wife of 58 years; three daughters, Robin (Michael) Arnold, LuAnn Wilkinson-Doyle and Wendy Depew all of Harrisburg; six grandchildren, Michael (Erica) Laird, Anne (Adrian) Huber, Caitlin and Taylor Doyle, Kennen and Kendra Depew; and a brother, H. Raymond of Pittsburgh. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leslie. He was a 1947 graduate of Altoona High School and a graduate of Montgomery Junior College, Bliss Electrical School. Ken served with the US Navy on active duty aboard the USS Missouri during the Korean Conflict from Jan. 1952 through Nov. 1953, he also served in the Naval Reserves. Ken retired in September 1990 as a relay tester at Penelec/First Energy, Altoona. He loved sports and worked for the Altoona Curve for 12 years and volunteered 22 years for the Bradenton Boosters during Spring Training with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Juniata. Ken held membership for more than 60 years with Hiram Lodge No. 616 F&AM, Altoona Consistory and Jaffa Shrine where he was a member of the Jaffa Greeters, Road Runners, Campers and The Q and personal aide to a past Potentate. He was a member of the USS Missouri Association and volunteered for Home Nursing Agency. Friends will be received from noon until the 2pm memorial service, with military honors, Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Juniata with Pastor Elizabeth Hess officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in Ken’s memory be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Juniata or Jaffa Shrine Road Runners.
