Larry Johnson

Larry Eugene Johnson, 73 of Bellwood was reunited with his wife, daughter, sister and parents in heaven on his birthday while surrounded by his family. He was born in Bellefonte son of the late Quentin E. “Ken” and Betty A. (Bohn) Johnson. He married Joanne E. Leo on Nov. 7, 1959 in Levittown and she preceded him in death on Nov. 15, 1988 after 29 years of marriage. Surviving are three children, Larry E., (Tammy)Jr. of Fairfax, VA, Kim E.(Steve) Evans and Christy E. Beam both of Bellwood; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; siblings: Denny of Tyrone and Diane M. (Don) McClellan of Tipton; and son in law, Rick Zimmerman of Bellwood. He was preceded in death by daughter, Tammy E. (Johnson)Zimmerman on July 19, 2013; and a sister, Nancy L. Thompson. Larry retired as a carpenter at Conrail after more than 20 years with the B&B crew who were not only coworkers but dedicated friends. He was a member of the Bellwood Fraternal Order of Eagles. Larry was an avid hunter, always in his tree stand on the first day of archery season. Larry bled Eagle green and one of his favorite activities was cheering on the Eagles and Pirates. He was a great repetitive storyteller with an off- the-wall personality and was a collector of anything and everything. Larry loved motorcycles and riding across the country with his wife and kids. He especially loved spending time with his family who were of the utmost importance to him. He will be greatly missed by his countless friends, neighbors, family and loyal dog, Scooter. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8pm, Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 11am Monday, May 5, 2014 at the funeral home with Rev. Arthur Shotts officiating. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blair County Diabetes Walk/Diabetes Research Institute in honor of Larry’s grandson, Ryen, who has Type 1 diabetes.
