Mahlon D. “Bud” Lepperd, 88, Antis Township died Thursday morning July 4, 2019 at his home. He was born August 12, 1930 in Washington, DC son of the late Mahlon P. and Helen (Doyle) Lepperd. On May 23, 1968, he married Grace E. Bollinger at Rock Hill Church of the Brethren. Surviving are his wife; five daughters, Eileen G. Morgan of Blacklog, Orbisonia, Rebecca B. (Bruce) Hartman and Anita F. Hoover both of Martinsburg, Leslie R. (Edward) Gifford of Columbia, South Carolina and Nina M. (Craig) Ormsby of Martinsburg; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a cousin, Margaret (William) Cross of Springfield, Va. He was preceded in death by son-in-law, Gary Morgan. Bud was a 1948 graduate of Bellwood Antis High School and served with the Army of the United States after his graduation. He retired as a maintenance supervisor at Warnaco Sportswear, Altoona after 39 years of service. Bud also volunteered his time as the caretaker of Antis Cemetery Association for 33 years. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Antis Township. He held membership in Hiram Lodge F&AM, the Jaffa Shrine where he was a member of the Chanters, and Order of the Eastern Star Altoona Chapter 290. He was also a member of Sinking Valley Grange, National Grange, International Harvester Tractor Collectors Assn., Blair County Big Brothers Assn. and PA Sheriffs Assn. Bud had many hobbies including camping, mowing grass, riding his tractors and going to county fairs. He enjoyed reading maps and taught his grandchildren how to read a map. He loved talking to people everywhere that he went and he kept a daily journal. Bud especially loved all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends will be received from 10am to noon Monday, July 8, 2019 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at noon Monday at the funeral home, Rev. Tracy Rabenstein and Pastor Nancy McCall officiating. Interment will be at Orbisonia Cemetery. The family suggests that contributions in Bud’s memory be made to John’s Way Medical Equipment Ministry 137 Church Hill Lane, Martinsburg, PA 16662.
