Margaret W. “Peggy” Martin, 88, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Bellwood, died early Sunday morning at her home. She was born in Bellwood daughter of the late John E. and Janet (Forrester) Williamson. On July 21, 1951 she married Stoddard “Tod” Martin at First Methodist Church, Bellwood and he preceded her in death on July 25, 2007. Surviving are three sons, Lawrence Stoddard Martin of Cambridge, Maryland., Robert Dean (Susan) Martin of Sinking Valley and Steven Grant Martin of Jackson, Wyoming; a daughter, Janet M.(David) Benfield of Georgetown, Delaware; seven grandchildren, Margaret A. Gibbons, Laura P. Pisoni, R.J. Martin, Tyler V. Martin, D. Maxwell Martin, Kathryn A. Groce and Susan M. Groce; eight great- grandchildren, Nathaniel and Mara Gibbons, Kierin, Adric, Mcrea and Emeryn Pisoni, Bailey Smith and Logan Gearhart. She was preceded in death by brothers, John E., Jr. and James G. Williamson; and a sister, Louise Hunter. Peggy was a graduate of Southern Seminary Prep School, Maryland and earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Maryland School for Women. She was a member of Logan Valley Presbyterian Church, Bellwood where she served as a deacon and elder and as choir director for 38 years. Peggy was a member of Kosmos Club, Bellwood. Her kindness and compassion for others led her to volunteering for Meals on Wheels and Contact Altoona where she volunteered for 40 years. Peggy had a love for nature and all God’s creatures, especially her dogs, cats and birds. Friends will be received from 4-7pm Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 11am Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Logan Valley Presbyterian Church, Bellwood, Rev. Charles Curley officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township. The family suggests that contributions in Peggy’s memory be made to Bellwood-Antis Public Library, Logan Valley Presbyterian Church, Bellwood or Presbyterian Village Hollidaysburg
