Marylin Hopkins Obituary

Marylin J. Hopkins, 75, Tyrone died unexpectedly Monday morning January 28, 2019 at her home. She was born March 5, 1943 in Indiana, daughter of the late Gerald and E. Carolyn (Wiggins) Smith. On Feb. 15, 1964, she married Donald L. Hopkins in Bellwood, and he preceded her in death on May 31, 2008. Surviving are three daughters, Susan L. Teltow and husband, Timothy of Altoona, Wendy L. Gates, and husband, Brett of Tyrone, and Dawn M. Hopkins of Hollidaysburg; four grandchildren, Amanda and Richard Bonsell, Krista Beech and Bradley Hopkins; three great grandchildren, Kaylee and Bowen Beech and Paisley Hopkins; a brother, Brian Smith, and wife, Chris of Altoona; a sister, Deborah Tyler of Tyrone; and sister in law, Connie Baker of Tipton. Marylin was a 1961 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School. She retired as a sales representative at Cornmesser Hardware & Furniture Store, Bellwood. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a volunteer at Tyrone Hospital. She enjoyed reading, painting, flower gardening and traveling, having just recently returned from a trip to Ireland. Marylin also enjoyed playing cards every Tuesday. Friends will be received from 5 to 8pm Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Marylin’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
