Phyllis Walker
Phyllis M. Walker, 93, formerly of Tipton passed away on Friday afternoon at Epworth Manor, Tyrone. She was born in Altoona daughter of the late Ira D. and Myrtle (Turley) Parsons. She married Pastor H. Wayne Walker on November 11, 1939 in Altoona. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1988. Surviving are three daughters: Judith A. Bonawitz of Columbus, NJ, Linda L. Greene and her husband, John of Altoona, and Deborah J. Sprankle and her husband, Andy of Tyrone; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a sister: Virginia Hunter of Duncansville. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Ruth Stairs; a brother: Daniel; and a sister: Shirley. Phyllis retired as a preschool teacher at Mrs. Walker’s Preschool at Calvary Baptist Church, Altoona, after 45 years. She was a member of Tipton Baptist Church, and an artist. The family suggests contributions in Phyllis' memory be made to Tipton Baptist Church School Scholarship Fund.Obituary
