Richard E. Lannen January 11, 1926 – October 24, 2013 Richard E. Lannen, 87, Tyrone, formerly of Tipton, went to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday evening at Epworth Manor, Tyrone. He was born in Tyrone son of the late Harry and Martha (McNeal) Lannen. He married Jolene G. Taylor on June 15, 1949 at First Methodist Church, Bellwood. Surviving are his wife who he dearly loved; two sons: Richard L. (Kaye) of Tipton and James (Lisa) of St. Leonard, MD; two daughters: Dixie E. Myers of Tyrone and Diana L. (Ken) Bartlebaugh of Tipton; 5 grandchildren: Jason, Travis, Angela, Rick and Kathy; 8 great grandchildren; 3 brothers: Jim of Sinking Valley, William “Earl” of Philipsburg and David in Ohio; and a sister: Darlene Williams of Tyrone. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Delbert, Paul and Ken; and a son in law: John Myers, III on Dec. 1, 2001. He served in the US Navy during World War II and was a driver for Admiral Nimitz in the Philippine Islands. Richard retired as an auto body specialist and taught Auto Body class at the Altoona Vocational Technical School. He attended Bible Baptist Church, Tyrone and was a member of the Tyrone V.F.W. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and pitching horseshoes. He was an avid fan of Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils, Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates and Penn State football. He loved his grand dogs Hannah and Messiah. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2013 and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Monday, October 28, 2013 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood, the Pastor Ken Patterson officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township. The family suggests that contributions in Richard’s memory be made to Wounded Warriors Project www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
