Robert H. “Bob” Slee, 91, Bellwood passed away early Saturday morning at James E. VanZandt VA Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born in Osceola Mills son of the late Hershel and Geraldine (Hefferon) Slee. He married Bernadette E. Sullivan on April 30, 1947 in Altoona. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Kathleen Bailor of Altoona and Patricia Krajovic of Canton, Michigan; 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; and three sisters. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Bob was a 1941 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He was a veteran of the US Army serving at the rank of 1st Lieutenant during World War II in the European Theater and as a captain during the Korean Conflict in ordnance supply. He retired in 1984 as an agent with Prudential Insurance Company, Altoona after 37 years of service. Bob was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Altoona, Knights of Columbus, Monsignor O’Malley Chapter and Bellwood Sportsmen’s Club where he served as treasurer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, gardening, photography and was an avid trap shooter. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8pm Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral mass will be held at 10am Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church Altoona, the Rev. Ronald Osinski, celebrant. Committal with military honors will be at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fisher House Foundation, Wounded Warrior Project or a local Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter.
