Rodney Stiver Obituary

Rodney L. Stiver, 85, Tyrone passed away unexpectedly Thursday afternoon April 11, 2019 at UPMC Altoona emergency department. He was born April 30, 1933 on the family farm in Port Matilda, a son of the late Lee and Maude (Schilling) Stiver. On June 27, 1970 he married Carol M. Fortney in Bellefonte. Surviving are his wife of 48 years; a daughter, Debbie LeMaster and husband, Keith of Altoona; several grandchildren; two sisters in law, Sally Stiver of State College and Barb Sinclair of Coalport; and a brother in law, Gary Fortney and wife, Penny of Blandburg. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dick; a daughter, Tammy Jo; and a nephew, Kevin. In 1984, he retired as a header and plating operator at Chicago Rivet, Tyrone after 28 years of service. Rodney enjoyed hunting, vacationing at Cape May, attending Altoona Curve games and shopping with his wife. He especially loved his dogs and cats. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 pm Monday, April 15, 2019 and noon to 1pm Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 1pm Tuesday at the funeral home, Rev. William Ice officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution in remembrance of Rodney may be made to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.
