Samuel R. Merritts, 69, Bellwood died Sunday morning September 27, 2015 at his home. He was born March 8, 1946 in Altoona son of the late Kenneth C.and Ida Mae (Craven) Merritts. He married Sherry K. Guida Surviving are his wife; two sons, Brian of Altoona and Samuel, Jr. of Bellwood; a step son, Sean Buckmaster of Bellwood; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth C. Jr. in Colorado; a sister, Barbara J. Hummel of Altoona; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Dean, Richard and Dale Merritts. He was a 1964 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School and a veteran of the US Army. Sam retired in 1999 as a mechanic at Commercial Envelope, Bellwood. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing, visitation or funeral services. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
