Timothy Sissler Obituary

Timothy P. Sissler, 66, Hollidaysburg went home to be with his Lord and Savior Friday morning June 16, 2017 at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg, after an extended illness. He was born November 10, 1950 in Altoona, son of Jack E. and Hilda (McCracken) Sissler. On July 7, 1973 he married Ann E. Bryan at Evangelical United Brethren Church Bellwood. He is survived by his wife; a son, Travis B. (Katee A.) of Apex, North Carolina; two daughters, Jennifer L. (Shawn M.) Hoyer of Leesburg,Virginia and Lindsey A. (Matthew J.) Riley of Hollidaysburg; two grandsons: Jack G. Sissler and Graham M. Riley. He was preceded in death by his birth mother, Gabriel Welch; a sister, B. Marlene Houser; and brother in law, Gene Houser. Tim was a 1968 graduate of Bellwood Antis High School where he returned to deliver a graduation speech and stated “B.A.H.S. represents Best Attitude Highest Standards”. He was a graduate of Penn State University, Manahath College and successfully completed the Advanced Management Program at the Fuqua School of Duke University. In 1973 he began his banking career with Mid-State Bank and Trust Company of Altoona as a management trainee, rising through the ranks until he was promoted as Director of Commercial Banking. He served as President of Central Bank of Hollidaysburg from 1994 until 2000. In 2000 he joined Reliance Bank, Altoona where he formerly served as President and Chief Executive Officer as well as Board member and Chairman, retiring in 2015. Tim was recognized as an A.P. Giannini Public Speaking Award winner by the American Institute of Banking and awarded the Gold Medallion Award by the RMA-Pittsburgh Chapter for his work and dedication to the credit industry. He also served as a moderator and coordinator of RMA’s annual Risk Management School and a past chairman of the Pennsylvania Bankers Association. He was named a Fellow of Leadership Blair County and he received the Distinguished Citizen Award by Penn’s Woods Council Boy Scouts of America and was a recipient of Blair County Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award. Tim was a consummate coach of life and sports with a great joy of seeing others succeed. He coached girl’s basketball at Bishop Guilfoyle and Hollidaysburg as well as coaching girl’s softball and little league baseball. He loved being involved in the community and had a passion for history. Above all, Tim was a loving husband, father, grandfather and very good man who loved his Lord and Savior. Friends will be received from 5-8pm Monday, June 19, 2017 at Grace Bible Church 164 Laurel Lane, Hollidaysburg. A funeral service will be held at 11am Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the church, Pastor Daren Ritchey officiating. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
